⚠️ Registration will close once we reach 60 players. If same-day registration is available, it will take place between 9 and 9:30. Players who arrive to register after 9:30 may be given a half-point bye in round one.
Check-in is not required for this tournament. If you are registered and have not contacted us to cancel, you will be paired in round one. But if you won’t be able to make it, please be courteous to your fellow players and let us know. This way, nobody will have to sit and wait for an opponent who won’t be showing up. One half-point bye is available for missed rounds. Request in advance.
If you need to leave early, tell the TD so you can be removed from the pairings.

Safe play
Oklahoma City Chess Club tournaments are run in accordance with US Chess Safe Play policies. Harassment of any kind will not be tolerated and should be reported to the tournament director.
Refunds
A player can receive a refund minus a $5 fee if they cancel up to one hour before the tournament start time. Players who no-show do not receive a refund.
No shows = not cool
For tournaments that don't require players to check in, it's still very important that we know who's coming and who isn't. A no-show means somebody gets paired with an opponent who's not coming. If something comes up, just send us a text so we'll know not to pair you. Players who no-show may be prohibited from registering in advance for future tournaments.
Electronic devices
Cell phones, smart watches, tablets, smart glasses, and other Internet-enabled or communication-capable devices must be powered off during play and kept in a bag/purse or on the floor beneath your chair for the entire duration of the game. Devices may not be powered back on until you have exited the tournament hall. Violations are subject to penalties at the tournament director's discretion, ranging from a time deduction to loss of game or expulsion from the tournament, depending on the severity of the violation.
Spectators may or may not be allowed; check the tournament rules or ask the TD. When permitted in the playing hall, spectators (including players whose games have finished) are expected to keep phones powered off and out of sight.
No communication of any kind is permitted:

-between spectators and players, or
-
-between spectators and other spectators.
This includes eye contact, facial expressions, etc. Spectators must keep a polite distance from boards and refrain from movement that might be distracting to players. The tournament director may elect to prohibit spectating at any time.
Running late? No worries — just send a text to (405) 642-6136 before the cutoff time and we'll put you in (or check you in, if check-in is required).
Leaving early? Players who withdraw before the last round are not eligible for prizes. If you decide to leave before the last round, tell the tournament director so they can remove you from the pairings.
Equipment
Sets, clocks, scoresheets, and pencils are provided at all Oklahoma City Chess Club tournaments.
Electronic scoring devices are not permitted at our FIDE-rated tournaments.

At events rated by US Chess only, players must notify us in advance if they wish to use an electronic scoring device in lieu of a paper scoresheet. Click here for a list of US Chess-approved electronic scoring devices.
Byes
Half-point byes (for missed rounds) must be requested before round 2. Up to two half-point byes are available in five-round tournaments. In four-round events, players may request one half-point bye. Byes for the final round in any tournament must be requested prior to the start of round one.
Combined sections
When sections are combined for pairings purposes, players compete for prizes advertised for the section in which they originally entered. Play-up exception: Play-ups choose before round one which section they want to compete for prizes in. Play-up fees are refunded regardless of which section the player chooses.
US Chess & FIDE memberships
A current US Chess membership is required for all rated tournaments. For FIDE-rated events, players who do not already have a FIDE ID must provide their date of birth and consent to be issued a USA-flagged FIDE ID. (Foreign players: Contact us for instructions on how to apply for a FIDE ID from your country of residence.)
About the venue
The chess club is located above Kamp's 1910 Café. Except on Sundays, when the café is closed, do not bring any outside food or drink into the building. Try something from Kamp's delicious menu instead.
Children must be supervised at all times while they are in the building. During their games, children are under the supervision of the tournament director. At all other times, children must be supervised by a parent, guardian, or other adult appointed by a parent/guardian. Children are not permitted in the café without a supervising adult.
