Free classes for adults

Chess 101

A 90-minute introduction to chess. This class is for absolute beginners. It covers how the pieces move & capture, check/checkmate/stalemate, castling and en passant, and basic opening principles. 

Chess 201

You know the basics. Now what? Gain a deeper understanding of opening principles, learn to spot tactics​, and practice the elementary endgame patterns every player should know.

Chess 101 and Chess 201 are free, but please register in advance.

Class begins at 6:30 p.m. (and usually ends around 8) We meet upstairs in the Kamp's 1910 building at 10 NE 10th Street in downtown Oklahoma City. No outside food or drink may be brought into the building, but feel free to come early and grab something from the downstairs café to bring upstairs with you.

Private coaching

In-person coaching: $50/hour

In-person private coaching is available for adults and for youths age 7 and older, from absolute beginner to 1600 USCF. If you're interested, submit the form and we'll contact you to schedule your first lesson.
